Hi! I’m Lexi Grant, and this is They Got Acquired – the podcast that takes you inside real acquisition stories.
I have missed you all! After a hiatus, we’re back with something completely different.
After our first season, we took a break to focus on building our business.
We got a lot of great feedback about the narrative format we used to tell founder stories in for Season 1 — but honestly, it was also time-consuming and expensive to create, which meant we kept putting off season two.
And then I had an idea…
What would it look like if I leaned into this second season as a way of sharing some big ideas, the ones I wish more founders knew about how to sell?
Over the last decade, I’ve personally become a student of M&A.
I sold two businesses myself before starting They Got Acquired.
And since we launched this brand more than three years ago, we’ve published nearly 300 acquisition stories, giving us unique insights into what actually works for founders – and what doesn’t.
I’ve also talked with hundreds of founders who want to sell — and let me tell you, if you’re facing certain challenges, it’s likely that other founders are, too.
Plus, I’ve gotten to learn from our advisor partners, and how they help founders sell companies.
So this season will be a little bit different.
It’s highly practical, with short episodes.
We’ll talk about the details most founders don’t know and demystify the M&A process, so it feels less confusing and intimidating.
And you know I’ll explain everything in plain English, because that’s what makes these wins accessible to all of us.
This season will help you do two things.
First, educate yourself on what you can do now to position your company to sell for more later – even if you don’t know when that will be.
Thinking ahead is truly one of the best things you can do for your business — and for yourself.
Second, when you are ready to sell, you’ll know we’re here to help you achieve the outcome you want and deserve.
There’s no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to selling your company — but there are best practices we can all understand and apply.
Every founder we talk to has not only a unique business, but unique personal goals and hopes for the future. I’m so proud that They Got Acquired has become the resource I wish I had when I sold my business.

Thanks for being here. And now, it’s on to Season 2.
